Clashes between the Ukrainian riot police and anti-government protesters resumed in Institutskaya street in central Kiev on Thursday morning, as the truce agreed between government and protesters on Wednesday night was dismissed.

The police pulled back from Maidan Square, using AK-47 automatic rifles to cover their retreat. Several casualties were reported from both sides.
